Ruby Blume is a Melbourne born music artist, vocalist and producer based in Berlin. With a feeling for nature, Ruby is inspired by both the earthy and the ethereal, the primal and the otherworldly.
When Ruby wasn’t busy befriending insects and lizards in her garden, much of her time was spent imagining what it could be like to hear two of the same voices at once, whether it be the same note played on two different pianos, or her own voice. With a passion for recording and layering sounds, Ruby is fortunate to explore a childhood wish. Luck has lent her a very vivid dream world, where Ruby experiences sounds and incredible music that she hasn't heard before, and enjoys feeling into and bringing through the sounds and feelings she would like to experience and to share this with others.
Some have compared her aesthetic and sound to artists such as Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, Grimes, and Enya. Ruby has spent many years sopping up the early works of artists such as Enya and Grimes, as well as albums by Cut Copy, Deep Forest, Hot Chip, Glass Candy, Grizzly Bear, Cat Power, Herbie Hancock and Jinja Safari. Ruby has now completed a Diploma of Arts in music production in Melbourne, and is currently studying for a Bachelor degree at Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology in Berlin.
Ruby is planning the release of her first EP, due to drop in 2023.
